Forrest Gump - Robert Zemeckis - 1994 (Coming Soon)
1. How did you feel about Forrest? What made him likeable (or not)?
A: I feel Forrest is a likable guy. The fact that he has an intellectual disadvantage, it makes you feel sorry for him. He is also very kind and he is always trying to do the right thing, whatever the situation.
2. In what ways did Forrest demonstrate loyalty?
A: Forrest is a loyal person by heart. He always keeps his promises. He is also very loyal to Jenny, mainly because they were childhood friends. Forrest is frequently helping out Jenny in times of need. For example, a couple of times, Jenny gets hit or slapped by a guy, and Forrest comes in and protects her.
3. What can we learn from Forrest in terms of acceptance of all types of people?
A: In the movie it shows that even though Forrest has an intellectual disadvantage, he became part of some of the biggest events in the history of the world. Forrest can show us that we are all normal and we can do anything. Anybody can do anything, no matter how big. Forrest became a millionaire, he met two of the United States presidents and he even ran across the U.S.A. with ease.
4. Why do you think Jenny treats Forrest the way she does through most of the film?
How do you think she feels as they get older?
A: I think Jenny cares for Forrest a lot. Mainly because they were childhood friends and throughout the movie, they seem to share this incredible bond together. As they get older, I think Jenny feels she needs to keep an eye on Forrest, until she goes away for a while, because she is most likely worried about Forrest`s future and since she cares about him a lot, she does not want him to get hurt.
5. Which historical tie in involving Forrest is most surprising and why?
A: The historical tie I find that is most surprising is actually a tie between two events, one, when Lieutenant Dan invests in Apple computers and Forrest gets a lot of money out of it and, two, when he meets John Lennon and the words said by Forrest inspire John to create the song Imagine. One, in the middle to late seventies, technology was growing and becoming more and more sophisticated and Apple today is one of, if not THE, richest company in the world. Second, it surprises me just how much simple words and phrases, as vague as they may be, can inspire the greatest things. Those simple words and sentences that Forrest said in the interview, inspired one of the greatest musical artists, including all the other Beatles, of all time to create a masterpiece song.
6. Which character do you most relate with and why?
A: I think I most relate to Forrest in terms of his loyalty and his courtesy towards everyone. Overall, i`m a nice guy and I am very loyal. I don`t let people down, I help people. I`m a nice guy and I can relate to that and how Forrest tries, and is, to be nice all the time.
7. If you were to describe Forrest to a friend, what would you tell them?
A: If I were to describe Forrest to a friend, I would probably tell them that, despite that he has an intellectual disadvantage, he is one of the nicest and most loyal people you will ever meet and that you won`t regret being friends with him. I would also say he lives up to his promises and will not let you down. I would also say that he is a very simple man.
