The Great Train Robbery - Edwin S.Porter - 1903
The film, The Great Train Robbery, is an old and fairly significant film. This is an early example of an action film. The toll booth attendant gets robbed and then the train is robbed. Eventually the cops are on the case and after a while they track them down and save the day. Also the end scene really has nothing to do with the movie, it's just a person shooting a gun at the screen. But at the time it was a terrifying sensation because, the person is shooting point blank at the screen(and ultimately at the audience). Theater managers were allowed to show this scene after or even before the film. Kind of like a prologue or an epilogue. This movie is also the first narrative film. This film is also based on a true story that happened on August 29th 1900. This was when a gang stuck up a train and robbed it. All in all this movie is a pretty good example of a narrative film for its time and the scene at the end is probably its most famous scene.
