Paramount
Paramount is a big film studio. They do movies and t.v. shows. The founder is Adolph Zukor. In 1912, paramount released their first movie, Queen Elizabeth. On June 28th 1916, Paramount's history was changed. The Jesse L. Lasky Company merged with Famous Players to make Famous Players-Lasky Corporation People then started seeing the iconic paramount logo. This helped Paramount gain publicity per-say In 1927, Paramount released Wings, a silent film about World War I fighter pilots. This was their first film to ever win an Academy Award. It was for best picture. Some great types of movies in the 30's from Paramount were, Bing Crosby musicals, Mae West comedies and spectacle from Cecil Demille. In 1966, Gulf+Western acquired Paramount. Some of Paramount's most iconic movies were made at this time such as: The Godfather (1972) and True Grit (1969). Later on, Paramount was also recognized for its dramas, which won a couple of awards. The 1980's were a truly great decade for Paramount, giving birth to many movies that would become great franchises. Some of these films were: Star Trek, which eventually blossomed into a franchise and Indiana Jones which also became a big franchise. Throughout the 1990's and the 2000's Paramount became a very good movie franchise and they are still going strong today. Paramount has made over 1000 films to date (even more!) and has won many awards for their movies. Paramount is, and still, with out a doubt one of the biggest film studios.
